_frequently asked questions
Here are some questions that
we've been asked. If these do not answer your question, see the "Ask an
Expert" section at the bottom. We'll get back to you within 24 hours!
Is it possible to have a
counter on the page that we can see but the customer does not?
Absolutely. These are called Site Statistics, and they are available
within your website control panel. Navigating through the control panel
is very easy, and the statistics show information about the people that
come to your website, such as: whose website they clicked on to get to
yours, or if they found your website through a search engine, and which
search engine, et cetera...
Beyond the quoted price,
what other fees are involved with having a website?
That's a good question. Beyond your quoted price, nothing is due to
Selah Studio. However, there is a fee for registering a website (a
domain), and then another fee for hosting the website. Usually these
fees are boxed together or the annual registration fee is waived
entirely. The fee for hosting can be paid annually or monthly however
you opt. (Hint: You can likely save a bunch of money if you pay
lump payments annually.) The fee is between $8.95-$12.95/month depending
on what hosting company is chosen.
Do links on the website
cost extra?
No. That's part of the quoted design fee.
How well do search
engines see the websites that Selah Studio produces?
Being seen by a search engine is valuable but unfortunately very
difficult to achieve sometimes. Selah Studio makes two special efforts
to get your website listed in the search engines. One of these methods
is through placing MetaTags in your website. The other is to submit your
website directly to the search engine. Placement in a search engine is
by no means guaranteed. Actually, guaranteeing that would be impossible.
However, you can pay for search engine optimization and there are many
options within that realm.
_troubleshooting
Pop-up pictures not
loading off your website?
Many times, it is not that it's not loading, but that it takes a little
extra time to load a larger image. The way the coding works for the
pop-up pictures in some websites is that the window opening up is small
until the whole image has loaded off the Internet, and then the window
automatically resizes to fit the full picture in your screen. Not to
worry, just give it another try, but wait a little bit this time before
closing the pop-up window.
That didn't work? Check in
your browser properties and see if you have disabled pop-ups. If they
are disabled, there's a possibility that this is disabling your pop-up
image.
